Choosing a Baby Name

Choosing a name for your child can be a tough decision process. Before we found out it was a girl, we had several boy names picked out but only a couple of girl names. We looked at lots of names and narrowed the list down eventually. We chose the one that we loved from the beginning and both easily agreed on. It is:

Brylee AnnMarie Schubert

This name has a lot of family significance.

  • Bronson’s dad’s name: Bryan
  • Bronson’s and his grandpa’s middle name: Lee
  • My grandma’s name, Bronson’s mom’s middle name: Ann
  • My great-grandma’s middle name: Marie
  • Bronson’s great-grandma’s name: Ann Marie
I am so glad we were able to incorporate family names from both sides. The name is really special to us and we feel it will be perfect for our little girl. 🙂

Banana Bread Bars

These are a sweet treat and a great way to use those very ripe bananas! This recipe came from: http://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/

Ingredients:

Banana Bread Bars:

1-1/2 c. sugar

1 c. sour cream

1/2 c. butter, softened

2 eggs

1-3/4 (3 or 4) ripe bananas, mashed

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 c. all purpose flour

1 tsp. baking soda

3/4 tsp. salt

1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Brown Butter Frosting:

1/2 c. butter

4 c. powdered sugar

1-1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

3 tbsp. milk

Directions:

1.  Heat oven to 375F.  Grease and flour 15×10-inch jelly roll pan.  For the bars, in a large bowl, beat together sugarsour creambutter, and eggs until creamy.  Blend in bananas andvanilla extract.  Add flourbaking sodasalt, and blend for 1 minute.  Stir in walnuts.

2.  Spread batter evenly into pan.  Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

3.  Meanwhile, for frosting, heat butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until boiling.  Let the butter turn a delicate brown and remove from heat immediately.

4.  Add powdered sugarvanilla extract and milk.  Whisk together until smooth (it should be thicker than a glaze but thinner than frosting).  Using a spatula, spread the brown butter frosting over the warm bars (the frosting will be easier to spread while the bars are still warm).

Yield: 2 dozen large bars

Goulash

Everyone will love this! It is part lasagna/part goulash. Most importantly, it is wonderful. Easy to make, very tasty and it makes great leftovers.

1 lb. hamburger

1 package macaroni noodles

1 large container cottage cheese

1 jar pasta sauce

1 package mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 375. Brown hamburger meat in skillet. Drain meat and add in cottage cheese and pasta sauce. Sprinkle in some seasonings (garlic salt, oregano, basil). Boil macaroni noodles in a separate pan until tender. Mix all these together and place in casserole dish. Bake for 30 minutes. Add cheese to the top and bake an additional 5 minutes. Broil for 1-2 more minutes to brown the cheese a bit.

Top with Parmesan cheese. Enjoy with garlic bread and a side salad!

Like I said, this also makes great leftovers for the next day or two. (Add a little Ranch dressing and Parmesan cheese if it is dry.)
